Serving a full breakfast is our favorite part of being innkeepers. Everything is home-made and cooked with fresh ingredients that are often organic and purchased from neighbors.

Black walnuts from the many trees on Meadow Creek Ranch are added to our muffins and Blueberry Walnut Pancakes. We serve fresh, mixed fruit every morning. In season, we get berries from the 49’er Family Farm a mile away. This is also the home ofMariposa Coffee Company where we get freshly roasted beans. We only buy a pound at a time, so they are often still warm when we get them home for your coffee. It’s a fun place to see how coffee is roasted, pick your own fruit and chat with the proprietor, Gerry Caputo.

Breakfast time in the main house is flexible, served between 7:30 to 9:30 AM to allow you to get an early start, sleep in, or join other guests for family style dining. One time we had a couple from an hour’s drive away getting to know a couple from County Cork, Ireland. We always ask & provide for any special diet needs & preferences such as vegetarian, low fat, or diabetic. In fact, Diana being a registered nurse has often been a great help to guests.

We love cooking together, and then enjoy chatting with you and offering any help to make your stay a wonderful experience.

Dutch Pan Babies is one of our delicious breakfasts, prepared in our century-old cast iron pans. The recipe is from a dutch friend and serves 4.

Pre heat oven to 400 and then pre heat 2 heavy [8″] skillets for 5 minutes.
Beat 4 eggs for 1 minute
Add 1 cup milk and beat 30 seconds
Add 1 cup flour, 1 T sugar, & 1/4 tsp. salt and beat until smooth.
Set out 1-2T butter per pan.

As quickly as possible, melt and swirl butter to coat bottom and sides of pans, divide batter between 2 pans, and return to oven for 15-20 minutes. You can adjust the time to your liking with future bakings, but you can’t remove to check during a baking because it comes out puffed high and soon falls.

Cut into wedges & serve with powdered sugar. We serve homemade preserves on top and love them as much as our guests!
